The documentary film Closed Border Dialogue explores the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey since 1990. Featuring former and current officials who played significant roles in this process, the film covers key historical events, including the initial engagement between Armenia and Turkey in 1991-1992, the closure of the Armenia-Turkey border in 1993, the inclusion of the Armenian Genocide issue in Armenia’s foreign policy agenda (1998-2008), the activities of the Turkish-Armenian Reconciliation Commission (2001-2004), Hrant Dink’s assassination in 2007, and the Armenia-Turkey protocols and “football diplomacy” of 2008-2010. Filmed in Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey, the project was produced in collaboration with the History Foundation of Turkey (Tarih Vakfı) and supported by the editor-in-chief of Istanbul’s Jamanak newspaper, Ara Gochunian.
