Established in 2011, Factum NGO is dedicated to documenting and preserving Armenia’s historical, political, and social developments. By collecting oral histories and curating personal and public archives, Factum highlights pivotal moments from Armenia’s Soviet era (1945-1990) and Independence period (1991-2020), shedding light on experiences related to democracy, human rights, and universal freedoms that might otherwise be lost.
Through various projects, Factum explores Armenia’s complex history—from the post-World War II repatriation that trapped Armenians in Soviet territories to the struggles of Armenian families who, as Displaced Persons (DPs), found refuge in the U.S. rather than returning to the USSR.
The organization has documented Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, as well as democratic developments in Armenia, Ukraine, and Georgia. These stories are shared through documentaries, exhibitions, publications, and online platforms.
Factum has established a strong presence by collaborating with international organizations such as the National Endowment for Democracy, Eurasia Partnership Foundation, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, DVV International, Human Rights House Foundation, Heinrich Böll Foundation, and the New Democracy Fund. To date, these partnerships have enabled projects totaling $415,208 USD, resulting in an extensive archive of video, photo, and documentary materials.

And this I believe: that the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in the world. And this I would fight for: the freedom of the mind to take any direction it wishes, undirected. And this I must fight against: any idea, religion, or government which limits or destroys the individual. This is what I am and what I am about.
