My Life Before and After
Living alongside us, in the same stretch of time, are people who have passed the age of seventy — and that means vast life experience, wisdom, professional knowledge and skill.
For those living in Armenia, however, this wealth is remarkable not only for its substance, but for the split that fate has dealt them.
By simple arithmetic, their lives divide into two equal halves: 35 + 35.
The seventy-year-olds at the heart of these programmes, produced by Armenia’s Factum Documentary Center and Georgia’s Re Studio, are living witnesses to opposing eras and unsettling change. Often they pass on not only personal feelings and impressions, but memories that capture whole eras and social orders — memories you will not find in any encyclopedia.
In shaping the series, both Factum in Armenia and Re in Georgia sought the widest possible diversity — drawing on different places and professions and, of course, striving for gender balance.
